Road Freight Controller (Woodmead)

Freight Request (FRQ) Management

• Receive, evaluate, and process freight requests.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external carriers to confirm availability and schedule transport.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and customer requirements.

 Loading Management

• Plan and supervise loading operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Optimize load distribution to minimize transportation costs and prevent damages.
• Liaise with warehouse and transport teams to ensure timely departures.

Pre-Alert Documentation Management

• Prepare and review all pre-alert documents for shipments, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs paperwork.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on time to relevant stakeholders.

Demurrage and Claim Management

• Monitor demurrage charges and take proactive steps to minimize costs.
• Handle freight claims with carriers and customers, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.

Logistics Efficiency Management

• Continuously review and improve road freight processes to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
• Monitor performance KPIs for carriers and internal operations.
• Implement best practices for scheduling, routing, and load planning.

Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate records of shipments, freight requests, delivery confirmations, and claims.
• Generate regular reports for management, highlighting operational performance and key metrics.

Query Resolution

• Act as the point of contact for all freight-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Investigate and resolve issues promptly, escalating when necessary.

• Minimum Grade 12
• Proven experience in road freight logistics, transport coordination, or supply chain management.
• Strong understanding of freight documentation, demurrage, and claims procedures.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
